A New Journey Begins: Welcoming the 2025 MASFI Students

The School of Fashion and Textiles (SFT) warmly welcomes the incoming cohort of the Master of Arts in Sustainable Fashion and Innovation (MASFI). This September marks the beginning of an exciting journey as students embark on a transformative path of growth, exploration, and innovation.

The new school year began with a programme overview session led by Programme Leader Dr. Di FAN and Deputy Programme Leader Dr. Miyuki CHENG. They introduced the MASFI programme’s vision, curriculum, and opportunities, setting a warm and inspiring tone for the semester ahead. A key highlight was the Capstone Project of Sustainability — an essential component that enables students to address real-world sustainability challenges through research and practice. Students also received a curriculum overview and participated in a Q&A session to help plan their academic journey.

Beyond the formal session, students reconvened for an exclusive cocktail orientation event for the MASFI programme. The relaxed setting offered a welcoming opportunity to connect with lecturers, fellow classmates, and alumni. The Dean of the School of Fashion and Textiles, Prof. Erin CHO, delivered a heartfelt welcome, reaffirming the school’s commitment to a vibrant and supportive learning environment. Students also met Capstone Project supervisors, who shared their research interests and industry insights — helping students cultivate the mindset needed for academic success and professional growth.

Moreover, alumni shared their personal journeys, offering practical advice and encouragement to the new cohort. Their stories highlighted the strength of the MASFI network and inspired students to embrace the opportunities ahead.

The evening was filled with lively conversations, shared experiences, and new friendships — laying the foundation for a collaborative and fulfilling academic journey.
