The School of Fashion and Textiles (SFT) is delighted to announce the successful launch of the inaugural cohort of the Master of Arts in Sustainable Fashion and Innovation (MASFI). The programme began with a series of orientation events in late August and September 2024, aimed at welcoming and integrating new students into the academic community. These events featured a warm welcome speech from the Programme Leader, Dr Di Fan, and Deputy Programme Leader, Dr Chan Hauling. Additionally, students were introduced to the programme features and their Capstone Project supervisors, ensuring they are well-prepared for the journey ahead.
Programme Aims
The MASFI aims to develop leaders in sustainability for the fashion, textiles, and creative industries in Hong Kong and Mainland China. The programme focuses on transforming fashion, textiles, and creative organizations using the latest technology and management tools to achieve sustainable growth in economic, environmental, and social aspects. Graduates are expected to demonstrate professional competence, strategic thinking, and a lifelong learning capability.
Programme Characteristics
This unique programme integrates theories and practices of sustainability specifically tailored for the fashion, textiles, and creative industries in Asia. Under the guidance of experienced professors, students are required to complete a 9-credit capstone project that aims to bring impactful sustainable innovations to their respective companies. Additionally, the curriculum includes the latest developments in social and environmental compliance audits. The programme ultimately seeks to develop leaders with sustainability mindsets who can make a significant impact on the world.
Capstone Project Supervision
During the orientation events, capstone project supervisors met with students, offering an excellent opportunity to familiarize themselves with various research areas. This interaction is expected to foster a collaborative and supportive environment, essential for the successful completion of their projects with impactful findings.
