AMSIGE-1 Conference Bridges Advanced Material Science and Global Green Engineering

The 1st International Conference on Advanced Materials, Surfaces and Interfaces for Green Engineering (AMSIGE-1) was held from 8 to 10 May 2026 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Organised by PolyU’s School of Fashion and Textiles, Southeast University, and the Jiangsu–Hong Kong–Macao University Cooperation Alliance (JHMUA), the event was co-organised by the Research Centre for Resources Engineering towards Carbon Neutrality (RCRE), the Research Centre of Textiles for Future Fashion (RCTFF), the Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems (RI-IWEAR), and the ESG Research and Sustainable Fashion Hub.

Chaired by PolyU’s Prof. Bin Fei and co-chaired by Southeast University’s Prof. Jian Chen, the conference established an international platform bridging cutting-edge material science with green engineering. The event gathered over 90 participants from eight countries and regions — including scholars, industry experts, and students — and featured 17 keynote speeches, 24 invited presentations, and 27 posters.

The academic discourse focused on three core themes:

  1. 1. Biology, Medical, and Healthcare Green Engineering
  2. 2. Textile, Construction, and Transportation Green Engineering
  3. 3. Sustainable Energy and Other Green Engineering

To nurture future leaders, the conference presented various accolades, including the Young Scientist, Young Scholar, and Best Poster awards, celebrating contributions to ecological transformation. Ultimately, AMSIGE-1 highlighted how regional synergy can catalyse international innovation, ensuring advanced material sciences remain aligned with the principles of a green and resilient future.
